One of the most prominent burger chains in the country will officially launch their first Jersey City location on November 30 as Shake Shack is scheduled to reveal their outpost inside the Newport Centre Mall.
Back in March, Jersey Digs was the first outlet to report on the imminent arrival of Shake Shack. The company will be taking up residence on the level three dining pavilion and will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony today at 10:30 a.m.
Shake Shack will be donating $1 from every burger or sandwich sold at the Jersey City location on opening day to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. The organization is a member of Feeding America and is the leading anti-hunger and anti-poverty organization in the state.
Shake Shack, founded in 2004 in New York City’s Madison Square Park, offers traditional burgers, a ‘Shroom burger variety, hot dogs, and fried chicken sandwiches alongside crinkle-cut fries. Their creative shakes and frozen custard floats rotate on a regular basis and use premium ice cream, real cane sugar, and cage-free eggs.
The Newport Centre Shake Shack is currently hiring for all positions. The newest restaurant is the company’s second Hudson County location following their opening on Washington Street in Hoboken last year.
Simon Property Group, who own the Newport Centre Mall, heralded Shake Shack’s arrivals as part of a wider effort to bring a variety of food and beverage options to the facility. The property welcomed Manhattan-based Kings of Kobe to the mall just last month.
Shake Shack’s operating hours at the Newport location will span from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, closing a bit earlier at 8 p.m. on Sundays.
The company isn’t done with Jersey City as a market just yet, as construction is underway to bring a second Shake Shack to 95 Columbus Drive near the Grove Street PATH station.
