Shake Shack has seemingly had Jersey City on the brain for some time and the national brand will apparently be opening inside space not far from the Grove Street PATH station.

Earlier this week, the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District announced that the Danny Meyer-founded restaurant is coming to 95 Columbus Drive. The storefronts inside the office building at the site recently underwent renovations to modernize their look.

Shake Shack, first launched in 2004 at New York City’s Madison Square Park, is slated to occupy a storefront on the Grove Street side of the building at the intersection with Columbus Drive. The restaurant offers a variety of burgers, hot dogs, and fried chicken sandwiches alongside rotating shakes and frozen custard floats.

Jersey Digs reported back in March about a Shake Shack slated for Newport Mall’s food court. Despite a post from Simon Property Group trumpeting the upcoming spot, Shake Shack did not respond to our inquiry at the time looking to confirm the restaurant’s imminent arrival.

The restaurant’s future at the Newport Mall remains a mystery, as the page heralding Shake Shack’s “coming soon” status has since been removed from the property’s website. Simon has also scrubbed Shake Shack’s graphics from maps that they had posted of the mall.

Despite the recent post from the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District, Shake Shack does not list the Columbus Drive location as coming soon on their website. The brand apparently likes to play it close to the chest when it comes to their upcoming restaurants.

Since opening their first outpost in New York City, Shake Shack has expanded to more than 320 locations in America and more than 80 international locations. Should their Columbus Drive spot come to fruition, the spot will be their second in Hudson County following a restaurant that opened in Hoboken at 111 Washington Street early last year.
