Finally, a more urban friendly project is coming to the Metro Plaza that is currently home to Shoprite, BJ’s and Pepboys. As Terrence McDonald reports over at the Jersey Journal, the first phase of the new mega project dubbed Hudson Exchange West will could begin with a 350-story residential tower where Pepboys is currently situated.
The developer, Forest City of Barclays Center fame, submitted plans to the city outlining their plan for the 11 acre site which includes a new street grid between 2nd and 6th streets and a large city park. The developer assured the city that they plan to incorporate the Shoprite into the new plans but it’s unclear whether Pepboys, BJ’s and Bed Bath and Beyond will be accommodated.
These are still initial plans that the city needs to approve so don’t get too excited yet!
