A spot near City Hall that formerly served frozen treats has been renovated into the neighborhood’s newest pizzeria.
Jimmy’s Brooklyn Pizza has opened their doors at 305A Grove Street inside the old Cherry Pick ice cream spot. Despite Brooklyn being known for its pies, the business decidedly caters a bit more to the crowd looking for a quick slice. While indoor seating is limited, the restaurant does sport outdoor seating complete with umbrellas and picnic-style tables along the new Grove Street pedestrian plaza.
All the restaurant’s pizzas are certified halal and kosher. While more traditional slices are featured on their revolving menu, specialty pizzas like a chicken tikka masala with jalapeños occupy space next to buffalo chicken Sicilian slices. A Halal Chimi Specialty pie with tomatoes, corn, and red cabbage is part of the rotation, as is a Dominican-style pizza with plantains.
Drinks from Pellegrino and assorted bottled sodas round out Jimmy’s Brooklyn Pizza, which is taking pick-up orders at (201) 904-6226 and is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, closing at 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
