From Downtown Newark’s new Black Swan Espresso to the new 9 Bar Cafe at Urby in Jersey City, the number of cafes in New Jersey’s urban areas is continuing to grow. This can especially be seen in The Heights neighborhood, where Dulce De Leche, The Cliff, FROTH on Franklin, and Choc-O-Pain have opened or are coming soon. Now, another cafe is set to add to the community’s increasing variety by opening along its main drag.
According to a post by Central Avenue Special Improvement District, Hafriti Capital, LLC will be opening a new business called ‘Griot Cafe’ at 434 Central Avenue, between South Street and Congress Street. The Griot Cafe is currently hiring baristas and bakers, according to a sign posted outside. It is not clear when the location is expected to open.
The space was previously occupied by the Fetch a Flick movie store, Candy’s Hidden Treasures, the Cleopatra Cafe, and Jenifer’s Studio.
