A fast-casual Indian restaurant that fuses their dishes with a variety of other cuisines will celebrate their arrival in the Mile Square City with free food and discounts later this month.
Curry Up Now, a California-based eatery is set to open inside 1,250 square feet of space at 91 Washington Street. The franchise began in 2009 as a food truck started by the husband and wife duo of Akash and Rana Kapoor and has since expanded to 11 restaurants nationwide.
The couple wanted to share the food and flavors of their homeland with American consumers and came up with innovative spins on Indian cuisine like deconstructed samosas, aloo gobi tacos, and tikka masala burritos. Side dishes at the eatery include an Indian-inspired poutine called Sexy Fries and Naughty Naan, which is slathered in cheese, caramelized onions, and shaved jalapenos.
Curry Up Now has teamed up with two Garden State-based franchisees, Pritesh Benjamin and Tejavsi Patel, for their Hoboken location. Their latest outpost will celebrate their grand opening on February 25. Beginning at 11:00 a.m., the first 100 guests in line will receive a free burrito or bowl of their choosing, while guests all day long will be given a 50% discount off the entire menu.
“Hoboken has always been my second home, so I’m very excited to introduce Curry Up Now’s unique and innovative Indian food to the diverse population and customers in this city,” said franchisee Benjamin.
The imminent opening of their Hoboken location isn’t the last time New Jersey will be hearing from Curry Up Now; the franchise’s Newark location inside the Hahne & Co. building is still in the cards and set to open in the spring.
