A wine shop in the Mile Square City is looking to expand operations just a few blocks south of the Hoboken city limit.
Wine Dad’s is seeking to open a location within the Soho Lofts development at 273 16th Street in Jersey City, between Coles Street and Jersey Avenue.
Soho Loft Wines, LLC, which is doing business as Wine Dad’s, filed an application with the Jersey City Board of Alcoholic Beverage Control for a liquor license at the address in question, according to a public notice.
The notice says that the license had previously been issued to Harborside Hospitality Corp., but that it is currently in “pocket” status, meaning that it is not being used at any particular store at the moment.
Jeffrey Carroll, the owner of Wine Dad’s, confirmed the plans for the 16th Street Wine Dad’s location in an email to Jersey Digs but noted that the Board of Alcoholic Beverage Control must approve the sale of the license first.
Carroll wrote that he hopes to open the new store this fall and that it would “cover delivery to the southern end of Hoboken, all of downtown Jersey City, and into Journal Square as well.”
The existing Wine Dad’s store in Hoboken opened nearly three years ago near the corner of Willow Avenue and 14th Street.
