A French eatery that has become one of the Garden State’s top dining destinations will be expanding to space along the Hudson River as Faubourg will be coming later this year to the Weehawken waterfront.
Opened in 2019 inside a former bank, Faubourg took Montclair by storm when it was launched by Daniel Boulud alums Olivier Muller and Dominique Paulin. The Bloomfield Avenue spot offers a seasonally rotating menu and is named after suburban areas that formed around Paris.
Faubourg’s second location will be located a block from the Weehawken ferry terminal on the ground floor of River House 11 at 1100 Avenue at Port Imperial inside space formerly occupied by Porter. Cycle Projects is revamping the 5,000-square-foot restaurant, which has an open kitchen, a 16-seat bar, an 84-seat dining room.
A speakeasy lounge as well as capacity for 60 outdoor diners will be featured at the Faubourg Weehawken, which is slated to offer both lunch and dinner with brunch service on the weekends. The restaurant will additionally offer a full plant-based menu alongside Faubourg’s traditional cocktail, beer and wine options.
Restaurants have proliferated along the Weehawken waterfront in recent years, led by the now-trailblazing Nohu Bar and Restaurant. Longtime staples like Charthouse have been jointed by The Highwood and Blu on the Hudson, with Drift Restaurant & Bar coming later this year from the team behind Jersey City’s Hudson & Co.
Faubourg can be followed on Instagram at their Weehawken-specific handle @faubourgweehawken. The new location of the restaurant aims to open sometime this summer.
