A shuttered storefront near one of Jersey City’s transit hubs will be getting the lights turned back on in the coming months as a new dessert shop called Buongiorno Gelateria is hard at work building out their space.
The future business, which has ticked up their construction efforts in recent weeks, will be opening on the ground floor of 525 Washington Boulevard inside space formerly home to Automat Kitchen. Little is known about the company so far but they promise an epic amount of handmade gelato that will total over 120 flavors.
Buongiorno Gelateria does not appear to have any other locations but have already created an Instagram at the handle @buongiornogelateria1972 for folks to follow their progress. An opening date for the sweet shop has not yet been announced.
The future gelato kingdom will be joining several other culinary tenants at the Washington Boulevard property, which is located directly across from the Newport PATH station. The complex already hosts Taiwanese dessert shop Meet Fresh, a Just Salad outpost, Kura Sushi, Chipotle, and a Hoots Wings. The building is linked by a skybridge of the Newport Centre Mall.
