An endeavor looking to bring a new food hall to the Powerhouse Arts District is not going to happen as plans for The Bread Factory are apparently off the table.

Jersey Digs reported on the upcoming business back in September. The team behind CoolVines announced that they were bringing an 8,700 square foot food hall to the Arts & Powerhouse Building currently under renovation at 124-134 Bay Street.

However, a social media account associated with the business has been deleted since our reporting. Per an article from Eater, Bread Factory owner Mark Censits says that the planned market won’t be opening in the space.

There is still more than a bit of good news surrounding the upcoming Arts & Powerhouse Building, which is in the final stages of undergoing a historic restoration and expansion. Philadelphia’s acclaimed Han Dynasty will still be opening at the building, while New York City’s Tacombi committed to the space back in 2021.

Besides those offerings, the Danny Meyer-helmed Daily Provisions will also be setting up shop in the property, as will an outpost of Rumble Boxing.

Downtown Jersey City residents still have District Kitchen within the waterfront Harborside complex for their food hall fix.
