Jersey City’s western expansion is showing no signs of slowing down, with the city’s Lafayette neighborhood the latest to reap the rewards of revitalization.

Less than three months after the official ribbon cutting, the Baker Building is nearly 80% leased. The 83-unit rental building in Lafayette, a neighborhood largely skipped over by developers over the last two decades, the project was a beacon of the area’s revitalization. Considering the robust leasing activity, it seems Point Capital Development struck the right chord.

Jersey City is planning a big bash for the grand opening of the long-awaited Berry Lane Park, a project that not only repurposes formerly abandoned properties but may be transformative for the neighborhood as well.

In another sign that Jersey City development continues to push further into neighborhoods outside of Downtown, the Planning Board recently approved a new project at 420-424 Whiton Street in the Lafayette neighborhood.
