A new seafood eatery in the Powerhouse Arts District is set to celebrate their arrival in the Downtown neighborhood with a socially-distanced day of live music along with signature drink specials plus a “buck a shuck special.”
Shell ‘N Tail is hosting their official kick-off party on July 18th starting at noon. The restaurant’s full menu launched this week as part of their soft opening and outdoor dining along their elevated covered patio at 150 Bay Street will be in full swing throughout this upcoming weekend.
The restaurant specializes in what they dub Bay Street Boiled Bags, which are essentially seafood fiestas that are highly customizable. Protein possibilities include whole Maine lobster, blue crabs, jumbo shrimp, or King, Dungeness, or Snow crab legs that are seasoned with spice blends ranging from Rae Bay, Jersey South barbecue, lavish lemon pepper, native soul, or an “Up Da’ Bayou” Cajun mix.
Other culinary options at Shell ‘N Tail include their signature surf and turf cheesesteak, which features certified Angus beef rib eye, fresh lobster, and morel mushrooms plus the restaurant’s secret sauce. Other plates like a crab cake sandwich or a Southern lobster roll with Rae Bay aioli and coleslaw are complemented by side dishes that include Jersey corn, steamed marble potatoes, sausages, and collard greens with smoked turkey.
A selection of frozen drinks is featured at Shell ‘N Peel and a new bar called Homegrown will be debuting directly next door to the restaurant on the same day. Their focus on Garden State spirits includes libations from Silk City Distillers and Corgi Distillery plus and wines from Alba Vineyards. Local microbreweries like 902 Brewing Company, Bolero Snort, and Kane will be featured on tap.
The openings of Homegrown and Shell ‘N Tail are set to feature a steel drum band and live music all day. For those who can’t make the festivities, Shell ‘N Tail is now offering online ordering through their website with delivery via Uber Eats.
Shell ‘N Tail can be followed on Instagram at the handle @shellntail and will open from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily over the coming summer months.
