A long-vacant storefront near the 9th Street Light Rail Station will soon be brought to life by a Tribeca-based café as Gotan Coffee Kitchen will be coming to western Hoboken later this year.
Gotan will be opening inside the 770 House in a bright space that is situated along a one-acre pedestrian plaza just off Jackson and 8th Streets. The café opened their second location and first Garden State outpost in Jersey City earlier this year.
The self-described “coffee-forward shop” has a partnership with Counter Culture as their roaster, and the kitchen is light and seasonal with an emphasis on fresh vegetables -once opened, it will certainly be another contender for the best coffee in Hoboken. Several of their all-day breakfast items include a scrambled cheddar biscuit, avocado feta toast, health bowls, and salads alongside sandwiches and paninis. They also offer a rotating soup of the day.
Gotan Coffee Kitchen serves teas sourced from SerendipiTea and also offers a selection of pastries, including a few gluten-free options.
The café’s impending arrival should be welcomed by residents, as the northern retail spaces inside the 770 House have remained empty since the complex opened almost four years ago.
Gotan is aiming to launch in Hoboken during the fall of 2023 and those interested can subscribe to a newsletter for updates through their website.
