Café Alyce has quickly become one of McGinley Square’s go-to spots and is now adding a new happy hour to kick off summer in addition to their full bar service for the neighborhood’s night owls.
Café Alyce secured a liquor license last year and started their bar program, which will be expanding significantly in the coming days. Starting May 22, the restaurant will be offering 50% off all drinks on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. through June.
Besides the lower happy hour prices, Café Alyce operates their full bar until 1:30 a.m. daily (except Tuesdays, when the restaurant is closed). They also recently unveiled a new cocktail program that features unique concoctions for the summer including A Fun Guy, which blends smoked mushroom soju, Aperol, whiskey, and ginger bitters; and Celina, with umeshu, tequila, lime juice, red shiso.
Café Alyce opened just about three years ago at 641 Montgomery Street inside a heavily revamped space. The endeavor transformed the old Medical Center Luncheonette by restoring red brick, fireplaces, and other historic details of the century-old property.
The revamp came courtesy owners Tory Aunspach and Natalie Miniard, who previously operated the seafood-heavy Hooked JC in Bergen-Lafayette. The pair have been busy serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner to the neighborhood since, which included a Jersey City-themed dinner series.
Café Alyce is open daily except Tuesdays starting at 8 a.m. for breakfast service. They serve brunch until 4 p.m. and dinner until 10 p.m. The restaurant can be followed on Instagram at the handle @cafe_alyce.
