Pizza Studio, a customizable pizza franchise that began on the West Coast, will soon be opening their first Garden State location in Jersey City.
First launched in 2013 out of Los Angeles, Pizza Studio has a location in the works inside the third-level dining pavilion at Jersey City’s Newport Centre Mall. The brand was founded by entrepreneur and former venture capitalist Samit Varma, who partnered with Ron Biskin on the fast-casual concept.
The company, who recently brought two New York locations to the Bronx and Brooklyn, allows diners to create their own pizzas before they are cooked in about three minutes in a self-ventilating conveyor oven.
Customization is the name of the game at Pizza Studio and the restaurant features several crust options including rosemary, whole grains, flaxseed, firecracker spice, cauliflower, and a tapioca-based gluten free variety.
Sauce choices at Pizza Studio include traditional tomato, barbeque, spicy Buffalo, basil pesto, and garlic alfredo, while their Saputo mozzarella is grated fresh daily. Pie toppings consist of a variety of crisp vegetable and savory meat toppings including a nitrate-free pepperoni.
Despite the customization focus, a few signature pies adorn the restaurant’s menu. A truffled mushroom pie includes garlic alfredo, spinach, black pepper, and parmesan, while a completely vegan pie comes with vegan sausage crumble, red onion, roasted red pepper, garlic, roasted broccoli, truffle salt, and basil. On the other end of the spectrum, a pie dubbed “The Beast” features meatball, pepperoni, ham, bacon, and sausage as toppings.
News of Pizza Studio’s impending arrival in Jersey City has been confirmed via their website, but the brand has not yet responded to an inquiry Jersey Digs placed seeking further details about a timeline for the store’s opening.
