Jersey City’s hometown coffee roaster, Modcup, is opening up it’s long awaited 25 Senate Place location today. The announcement on their Facebook page indicates a soft opening all week serving up coffee from 7am-5pm.
The new location will also serve as their roasting facility. They previously roasted at 124 Brunswick Street but had to relocate as that building is slated for development.
What started as a single coffee cart slinging cups in Hoboken, quickly transformed into quite the local coffee empire. Following the success of their cart, Modcup opened up their first brick and mortar location on Palisade Ave in the Heights, directly across from Riverview Fiske Park. Next, we saw a second location inside the Kitchen at Grove Station restaurant, but unfortunately, that one shuttered when the restaurant did.
They’ve also set up shop in their restored 1969 Citroen at Exchange Place to serve up fresh joe for the waterfront office and commuter crowd.
