A successful local Asian restaurant is heading south to Jersey City, as construction for Menya Sandaime is officially underway in the city’s Newport neighborhood.
The Fort Lee ramen house, in business at 1638 Parker Avenue since 2014, is hard at work renovating space at 570 Washington Boulevard into their second outpost. Construction permits were posted on the door in May and official signage went up over the weekend.
The restaurant’s Instagram account touts their house made noodles and homemade broth as full of flavor. Varieties of their ramen include miso, black, and karakuchi, which come accompanied with pork belly or stir-fried vegetables, scallions, marinated egg and bean sprouts.
In addition to ramen-based dishes, Menya Sandaime also serves other options like Gyoza pork dumplings, Butadon, and Gyudon, which are steamed bowls of rice with flavored pork and beef, respectively. Those interested in the restaurant’s future location can follow their existing Facebook page for announcements on the opening, which could happen later this year.
