F45, an Australian-based functional training workout, has made its way across the world and landed in Jersey City. Born in 2012, the founders developed F45 to challenge the status-quo in the fitness industry by creating varied workouts that change every day to motivate the masses. After building up dramatic success over the past seven years, just last month, Mark Wahlberg (AKA F45 Fanatic) purchased a minority stake in the gym chain through the Mark Wahlberg Investment group and FOD Capital. This deal values the company at an estimated $450 million (according to Bloomberg) and will aim to drive F45’s global expansion strategy.
Renovated by Dixon Projects, the Australian-backed design-build firm that also was born in Jersey City, this brand new F45 facility features a massive workout area with room for up to 27 different stations and spa-like baths stocked with top-notch Aussie skin and hair products by Edible Beauty all conveniently located just steps from the Harborside HBLR station and Exchange Place PATH.
Situated at 65 Bay Street, this brand new facility had its grand opening in early February and is quickly gaining a strong community of fit, fun-loving members. F45, is a simple, structured “F”unctional 45-minute class (except on Saturdays where members enjoy a full hour) that offers a high-intensity circuit training workout.
“I’m so excited to have the opportunity to bring the F45 workout concept to Jersey City,” said owner Nick Perchey. “We’ve been open almost 3 months now and already we’ve got a great community of members and trainers who love to have fun and support each other to do their best in every class. And we saw some great results from our recent 8-week challenge with the winner losing 8.5% body fat and one member losing 25lbs of fat! Already we’ve helped our members feel strong, more confident which has changed their lives and has not only helped them achieve their health goals but all their goals and that’s what it’s all about.”
F45 merges three cutting-edge training styles into one high-powered training experience: High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Circuit Training, and Functional Training. This fusion of cardio and strength training has been proven to be the most effective method for burning fat and building lean muscle.
Members will never repeat a workout with new classes every day of the week. Classes are spread throughout the day, and F45 in Jersey City offers a variety of different unlimited no contract training packages as well as drop-ins for those who aren’t fully committed to the best workout in town.
Currently, F45 Jersey City is offering a free week once you purchase one class.
This isn’t Dixon Projects first retail project in the area; they also renovated Maggie’s Farm Espresso, an Australian coffee shop situated on the same block at 88 Morgan Street. CVS Pharmacy, CYCLEBAR, and Roar Dental have also made 65 Bay Street their home.
