Locals taking a stroll along Bergen Avenue have likely noticed work that’s been ongoing for almost a year at a prominent corner property. The long wait to get a new business up and running at the building might finally be coming to an end, as a new Italian restaurant looks like they are close to opening their doors.
Formerly home to Wang Wang Chinese Restaurant, the ground-floor retail space at 682 Bergen Avenue has undergone a complete gut renovation. Construction permits were posted at the storefront way back in November of last year, but few knew quite what was happening with the space beyond a cryptic “pizzeria” description listed on the notice.
While there is still a dearth of information regarding specifics of the business, we now know that the restaurant taking the space will be called ITA Italian Kitchen. Ownership of the endeavor is unclear, although it appears to have no relation to Long Island’s recently-opened ITA Kitchen located in Bay Shore.
ITA Italian Kitchen doesn’t appear to have any website, social media presence, or a working phone number just yet but will nonetheless be joining a block that’s becoming a food destination. It will be a few doors down from Ohlala French Kitchen and neighborhood staple Carvao BBQ, as well as just down the road from the sweet treats of Crema.
A small temporary sign has been put up at the building and construction paper has been taken down from the storefront’s windows, so passersby can get a sneak peek of the renovation if they’re a bit nosy. We’ll keep you updated on any developments with ITA Italian Kitchen that we discover.
