A fast-casual restaurant that has rapidly expanded in a relatively short time will be opening their next outpost in Jersey City, inside a new McGinley Square development that will add a new lunch option to the neighborhood.
Guac Time initially opened in New York City in June 2021 and has grown to ten locations. Three more are coming soon and Jersey City will be getting a dose of Guac Time at 725 Bergen Avenue on the ground floor of the KABR-built property.
The restaurant allows customers to create their own burrito, bowl, nachos, salad, quesadilla, and soft or crispy taco concoctions that are heavily customizable. All the meat at Guac Time is HFSAA Certified Hand Cut Zabiha Halal and proteins for customers include vegetable, Mexican sweet potatoes, honey chipotle chicken, spicy lamb, or sweet chili shrimp.
Diners will have a choice of toppings that include (you guessed it) varieties of guacamole, quesos, and salsas alongside house sauces like a chipotle, cilantro aioli, or sweet mango verde. Other highlights on the menu at Guac Time include their loaded fries, birria tacos, and birria pie, a spin on Mexican pizza.
Churros and plantains round out the Guac Time experience for those looking for something sweet. Construction has already begun at the Bergen Avenue site, with temporary signage already announcing the imminent arrival to the neighborhood.
725 Bergen Avenue is an appropriate location to house a restaurant, as the address served as the original location of The Alps for decades. A new version that borrowed the historic name opened along Palisade Avenue in The Heights last month.
