One of Essex County’s best casual Greek spots will be heading east to the Hudson River as Efi’s Gyro will be opening their second outpost in Jersey City’s Newport neighborhood.

The restaurant has signed a 2,746-sqaure-foot lease in Newport’s forthcoming 30 Park Lane development, also known as 171 River Drive. The 387-unit complex, as yet unnamed but set to open later this year, tops out at 362 feet and sports a 379-space parking garage.

The Greek eatery along Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair is run by Efi Mihalis and sports a variety of gyro creations and customizable bowls. Their pork and chicken options are complemented by plant-based substitutes, allowing customers of all diets to enjoy their creation.

A variety of platters are also featured at Efi’s Gyro, as are salads and sides like hummus, Greek fries, and homemade stuffed grape leaves with rice and herbs. Other Greek classics including spanakopita are accounted for, as are desserts including baklava for those looking for a sweet finish.

The retail storefront set to be occupied by Efi’s Gyro faces the Newport Green in one direction and the recently opened Dunhuang Noodles across the street. The upcoming 30 Park Lane features another 4,709 square feet of retail along the River Drive side of the property that has yet to secure an announced tenant.

The news on Efi’s Gyro follows our reporting from earlier this month that Solaz Restaurant and Full Swing Golf Suites will be taking up a whopping 10,640 square feet of space inside another Newport building just a few blocks to the south. The neighborhood is also set to welcome Blue Anchor Bar + Kitchen later this year.

Efi’s Gyro says they hope to open their Newport outpost sometime this summer. The business can be followed on Instagram at the handle @efisgyro.
