A small building in Bayonne that has long been home to electrical contractors is expected to be replaced with the city’s latest multi-family development.
The Bayonne Zoning Board of Adjustment has approved plans to construct a 20-unit building at 626-628 Avenue E, a property located near the corner of East 40th Street. The developer and property owner, M.L. Realty Corp. of N.J., applied for Preliminary and Final Site Plan approval with variances to replace the existing structure at the site, which has been used over the years by Burnett Electric and previously Weaver Electric.
Dennis Burnett, the president of Burnett Electric, told Jersey Digs that the upcoming development is expected to include 12 one-bedroom units and eight two-bedroom units. A total of 22 parking spaces will be provided at the site. The building is also slated to have bicycle storage space for tenants along with rooftop amenities such as a lounge, a fitness center, and a terrace. Bayonne-based DAL Design Group is the architect for the project.
A construction schedule has not yet been established, according to Burnett.
The property is located adjacent to the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail tracks and is around halfway between the 34th and 45th Street stations. The Sigmund Mackiewicz Park is also situated next to the premises, which are just across Route 440 from Bayonne’s new Costco location.
