A discount retail brand that has been part of the Jersey City landscape for decades will be ending their run over the coming months as CH Martin is hosting a liquidation sale at one of their last remaining stores.
The company’s store in The Heights at 256 Central Avenue is currently offering 20% off the entire store as part of their closing. The storefront is already listed as available for lease and the eventual shuttering of the Central Avenue CH Martin follows the closing of their Downtown store along the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza earlier this year.
CH Martin has been struggling to keep their heads above water in recent years, as their store in Paterson has shuttered as well. The company will also be closing their store in Yonkers, New York by the beginning of next year.
The CH Martin in Journal Square will be their only location in operation soon and that outpost is also not long for this world.
While an official closing for that store hasn’t been announced, Jersey City’s planning board approved a 400-unit mixed-use development at the address that includes space for a café on the ground floor, meaning CH Martin does not have a long-term future at the property.
In the meantime, residents of The Heights can stop the Central Avenue store for discounts on their myriad of products that include everything from clothing, shoes, kitchenware, home accessories, and more.
