A Paulus Hook restaurant that has been a staple of Jersey City for years appears to be moving into bigger digs as Bistro La Source is planning to move into space close to a major transit hub.

An application has been made to Jersey City’s Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board that indicates the former Latham House spot will soon have the lights back on. A proposed transfer has been requested for a plenary retail consumption license to Grand Jete Hospitality LLC, which would operate at the address of 299 Marin Boulevard.

Grand Jete Hospitality is the corporate name for Bistro La Source, which serves French-style fare inside a historic building. The restaurant has been in business on Morris Street since 2008 and is run by Bill Spitz.

Jersey Digs has reached out to Bistro La Source regarding the move but have not yet heard back or received confirmation regarding the plans. Jersey City’s ABC board is slated to meet tonight, June 24.

In a separate matter, Bistro La Source has made an application to transfer their current liquor license at 85 Morris Street to an entity called Six Hands Holding Company LLC. The new proposed owners of that license are two developers, one of which is connected to Unit Opus.

Per Traded.com, that company recently purchased a development site at 83-89 Morris Street. The project, which has been in the works since 2018, would be built around the three-story building from the 1860s that currently contains Bistro La Source.

Per our reporting, part of the work to develop the plots into the planned 19-unit complex would involve replacing a parking lot and outdoor seating that is currently utilized by Bistro La Source.

It’s unclear how much the possible construction is impacting the apparent plan to move Bistro La Source, but it looks like the area near the Grove Street PATH station will be getting another dining option.
