As Jersey City’s popularity continues to grow, more and more businesses are setting their sights on the city.
Zinburger Wine & Burger Bar will be opening a location in the Newport Centre Mall off of Marin Boulevard. This will be Zinburger’s first Hudson County restaurant, though there are other New Jersey franchises in Cherry Hill, Clifton, Morris Plains, and Paramus, in addition to restaurants in Florida, Georgia, New York, North Carolina, and Virginia. According to Simon Malls, the location is expected to open by February 15th, 2017.
The East Coast franchise has dozens of menu items, ranging from Chinese chicken salads to turkey sloppy joe burgers to wine, beer, and cocktails. There are also six types of fries and 12 flavors of shakes, including creme brulee and banana royale.
Other businesses planned for Newport Centre include the Havanita restaurant and the e.l.f. Studio store, both of which are slated to open by Christmas.
Another restaurant chain is also planning to come to Jersey City. Maryland-based Cava Grill, which serves Mediterranean cuisine, made the announcement last month. The company website does not state where in the city the location will be, but employment listings posted last month state that it will be located at 30 Montgomery Street, near Exchange Place. Cava Grill’s only other area restaurant is near Union Square in Manhattan, but there are others in California, Washington DC, and more. Earlier this month, Los Angeles Magazine called Cava Grill “the fast-casual restaurant of the future”.
“We love Jersey City because it’s a diverse area with a very active and healthy population”, said Nikki Rappaport of Cava Grill, who added that the 30 Montgomery Street location should open in the spring of 2017.
It’s not just restaurants branching out to Jersey City. Puzzle Out Room, an ‘escape room’ attraction, is coming to Downtown at 317 Grove Street, at the southwest corner of Christopher Columbus Drive. The company opened its first location in Hoboken earlier this year. Escape rooms have expanded rapidly in recent years across the country, and there are dozens across the New York Metropolitan Area.
In addition, a new fitness center has opened its doors in the city. CRAG, which stands for Climb Rise Ascend Gain, held a grand opening party on November 5th. The business, which is located near the waterfront at 127 1st Street, at the corner of Provost Street, brands itself as the East Coast’s “first and only boutique climber fitness studio”. It is open daily except for Sunday.
