A luxe living experience is taking shape in Brick City. Called Vibe, the new development is a 300,000 sq. ft. plus project with a big team to match, including Strategic Development Partners who is behind University Place in Jersey City’s West Bergen neighborhood. Vibe will be a glass tower with 260 luxury rentals and resort-style amenities atop retail space and all with a high-tech edge.
Located at the intersection of Halsey Street and William Street, within the Living Downtown Redevelopment Area, Vibe will be an $80 million investment in downtown Newark. The location will allow unparalleled access to restaurants, bars, events, pro sports, performances, transportation and views of the Manhattan skyline and the New Jersey coastline all the way to Sandy Hook.
The proposed breakdown of luxury apartments is 54 studios, 154 one bedrooms, and 52 two bedrooms, including a penthouse level. Studios are generously-sized at 450 sq. ft. and one bedrooms are 650 sq. ft. Two bedrooms are an ample 950 sq. ft. and there will be garage parking for 156 cars.
Two well-known but yet-to-be-named restaurants are planned for the street-level retail and Vibe’s lobby will even offer a coffee bar — one of the many common areas throughout the building for residents to meet and mingle.
A state-of-the-art fitness center as well as indoor and outdoor Pilates and yoga studios will be located on a residential level and Vibe is topped off with a rooftop pool, whirlpool spa, and an outdoor dining area with grills and fire pits.
The luxurious list of amenities also includes a concierge; a party room with chef’s kitchen and bar; a conference room fully equipped with A/V systems; a game room for billiards, ping pong, foosball, and shuffleboard; a covered dog run; and a children’s play area.
Vibe will be truly high-tech, fitting in with the Newark’s rise as a top tech city, offering building-wide WiFi and Alexa built into all apartments and common areas. Apartment entry, temperature control, and package notifications will be app-based and the aim of Vibe is certainly to appeal to Millenials who prefer an affordable walkable urban lifestyle that balances living, working, and playing.
“Vibe will offer a technology-rich environment with abundant lifestyle amenities for Millennials, who prefer the energy and convenience of cities like Newark,” says Anthony V. Bastardi, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Strategic Development Partners. “The location—just minutes from diverse dining options, world-class cultural events, sports and transportation—will make Vibe an enviable address.”
According to Vibe’s site metrics, it will be the closest residential development to the Prudential Center, a five-minute walk, and a 12-minute walk to NJPAC. The newly expanded Riverfront Park is nearby and Teachers Village is just across the street. Most conveniently, Vibe will be only a 13-minute walk to Newark Penn Station with access to the PATH, NJ Transit, Amtrak, bus lines, and the Newark Light Rail.
Pricing and timing have yet to be announced, but for more information and to check out Vibe’s new video, visit VibeNewark.com.
