A company with over 300 stores in China is slated to open its first New Jersey spot in Hoboken for what will be its seventh U.S. location.

RIPCO Real Estate has confirmed that The Whale Tea will be coming to 460-square feet of space at 303 First Street in Hoboken. The business originally started in and around the Chinese city of Nanjing before recently bringing several spots to Connecticut and another to the Queens neighborhood of Flushing.

The Whale Tea is a bubble tea café that offers unique drinks. Their menu includes concoctions like a crème brulée brown sugar milk tea, a cucumber fruit milk variety, or a rose milk tea. The café will provide convenient grab-and-go options for locals and commuters on their way to the city’s nearby PATH station.

“We continue to see strong demand for retail space in Hoboken,” says Daniel Zappala of RIPCO. “The concentrated density of population, high foot traffic, and mix of concepts already in the market provide a unique opportunity to retailers unlike that of a traditional shopping center. With new development in the pipeline, we are certainly in an exciting time for retail in Hoboken.”

A timeline for the opening of The Whale Tea’s Hoboken location was not released and construction work has not yet begun at the property.
