Shoo Loong Kan, an international restaurant chain with over 800 locations worldwide, has opened its second Garden State outpost in Downtown Jersey City, just blocks from the Hudson River.
The restaurant is situated inside the 253 Washington Street office building inside space formerly occupied by the since relocated Mantra. Shoo Loong Kan is named after a place in the Shapingba district in Chongqing and the brand itself was established in 2014, rapidly expanding across Asia and beyond.
Shoo Loong Kan opened their first U.S. spot in the Queens neighborhood of Flushing just about four years ago, which was quickly followed by an outpost in Fort Lee inside the Hudson Lights complex. Those uninitiated are in for a treat, as the restaurant specializes in spicy Sichuan-style hot pot inside a cozy space.
The restaurant’s broth options include a special chili broth, pickle broth, pork rib broth, and more varieties, with available dippers including a wide range of meats, seafoods, and vegetables.
Some of the more accessible highlights include crab sticks, handmade beef balls, Kobe beef, diced wagyu, lamb slices, beef tripes, thick cut short rib, scallops, and fresh conch. But for those more adventurous souls, options like crystal goose intestine, pork kidney slices, or a spicy duck gizzard also dot the menu.
Shoo Loong Kan is now open in Jersey City for lunch daily from 11:30 until 3:00 p.m. Dinner service at the restaurant starts at 5 p.m. daily, ending at 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
