A McGinley Square block party is planned for this Saturday (7/8). But there’s a catch. Before the party, volunteers are asked to spend an hour cleaning up and beautifying Bergen Avenue between Montgomery Street and Duncan Avenue.
The event is organized by the McGinley Square Partnership with support from the Office of Innovation as part of the nationwide “Build a Better Block” program. In addition to trash pickup, volunteers will be planting flowers and painting murals along the avenue.
The City has called in the Department of Public Works to plant trees, install trash cans and bike racks.
The cleanup starts at 10am with volunteers meeting along Bergen Avenue. At 11am the street festivities begin with over 40 vendors, musical entertainment as well as activities for the children.
