Downtown Jersey City is about to get a little sweeter. The city’s first Krispy Kreme has officially set an opening date.
Signage was unveiled yesterday announcing their opening, next Tuesday, February 7th.
Located at 95 Christopher Columbus Drive, occupying the former PNC Bank space, the newest addition will be a full blown Krispy Kreme Factory location where doughnuts will be baked fresh on premise. The factory stores allow guest to watch the doughnuts being made in real time on the company’s proprietary baking equipment.
Back in May, Krispy Kreme announced an agreement with Entrepreneurs, LLC to open the six locations in Hudson and Bergen Counties. The Downtown Jersey City location will be the first one to open with the rest to follow in the coming years.
Krispy Kreme was founded in 1937 and has garnered a cult following among its customers. Their iconic “hot now” sign illuminates when doughnuts are being baked fresh, enticing passersby to stop in for a warm one fresh off the line.
