Spaces that went dark during the COVID-19 pandemic continue to spring to life around Jersey City and a new restaurant dubbed Kinsen has started servicing customers out of space just a few blocks from Van Vorst Park.
The lights recently went back on at the ground floor of 80 Wayne Street as Kinsen has launched in the neighborhood. The eatery is replacing Pr&nce, a Thai restaurant that had moved from the city’s Hilltop neighborhood before shuttering.
Kinsen is also a Thai endeavor and has adopted the motto of “Eat Good Food and Stay Simple.” The business offers inspired salads, rice bowls, and noodle dishes and recently launched online ordering through Seamless.
Appetizers like fresh summer rolls, grilled beef or pork balls, and chicken or vegetable gyoza are featured at Kinsen, but bowls are their main attraction. Combinations like peanut curry or a stir-fried yellow curry variety set things up, while dishes that bring the heat include a green curry noodle with chicken, shrimp, and pineapple, a spicy chili basil bowl, or a yellow curry with potato, carrots, and coconut milk.
Kinsen is a BYOB situation for dine-in service and all entrees are comfortably priced under $20 each. The casual restaurant is now open daily from noon until 9:30 p.m. and can be followed on Instagram at the handle @kinsenjerseycity.
