A Jersey City space along the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza is now serving up Korean fried chicken and more as Kimchi Guys has re-imagined a storefront that has been dark since the summer months.
The ground floor of 172 Newark Avenue had housed the also Korean-inspired Bonchon restaurant for many years before that eatery announced that they were closing back in August. Kimchi Guys has stepped in rather quickly to fill the void and is now offering dine-in and take-out service that includes some unique items on the menu.
The obvious highlight at Kimchi Guys is their Korean fried chicken, which is available in wing, drumstick, and homemade strip form. Sauces like soy, garlic, spicy, and sweet chili add flavor to the festivities at the restaurant, which offers a lunch special Monday through Friday that includes three wings, two drumsticks, and either French fries or vegetable fried rice for just $10.75.
Other main dishes at Kimchi Guys include several fried rice varieties, bowls ranging from vegetable avocado to bulgogi ribeye, or tukbokki, a spicy rice cake dish. A few wraps and sliders plus some Korean taco options round out the menu.
