We here at Jersey Digs spend a lot of time talking about homes, but sometimes an entire neighborhood can feel like an extension of one’s house. Food, retail and amenities help activate a streetscape, and one local realty company has helped facilitate vibrant neighborhoods by placing the right businesses in the right spots.

Donovan Realty & Development Inc., who have been in Downtown Jersey City for over a decade, have been hard at work placing a myriad of businesses all over Jersey City and beyond, one of which, Brewshot Café, just celebrated their grand opening earlier this month at the Cast Iron Lofts. The coffee shop is also working with Donovan on growing their business to a new location, which is set to open sometime within the year.

Zaniac, a STEAM-based learning center at 125 1st Street in the Powerhouse Arts District, was also placed in their new digs by Donovan. The learning center, which focuses on science, technology, engineering, arts, math studies, also recently opened their doors.

Donovan prides themselves on drawing a diverse clientele. The company recently placed Hudson Stables, an expansion of the Classic Car Club Manhattan, at a Hoboken facility where they are just finishing the build out for a storage facility and club. They also recently secured leases for two child day care facilities at different properties, one which will open in Downtown Jersey City within the year and another in Union City that will be opening in approximately six months.

Looking ahead, Donovan is in the process of matching tenants to fill the Cast Iron Lofts II property, which has two retail spaces of about 2,000 and 5,100-square feet each respectively. The soon to be completed SoHo Lofts across the street also has two larger storefronts Donovan will be looking to fill. Those spaces provide 12,900 and 4,400-square feet each, which they hope to find a gourmet market and a restaurant to fill, respectively.
