There’s a new hotel on the Hudson River waterfront. Hyatt House Jersey City is now open at One Exchange Place, a stone’s throw from both the light rail and the PATH.
The 14-story building has 258 apartment-style suites with full kitchens. It’s an adaptive reuse of the 97-year-old First National Bank of Jersey City building. Four floors were added for this project.
There are two bar/restaurant options. The Terrace Bar is a “comfy lounge with an open and welcoming space for guests to relax, gather and socialize” and The Rooftop, with its retractable glass ceiling and a fire and water feature, is billed as “the perfect place to sip cocktails and enjoy savory bites.” A small market and a gym are open 24 hours a day. There is also 10,000 square feet of street-level retail space, including a Dunkin’ Donuts and a Subway sandwich shop.
“Hyatt House Jersey City has been designed with our guests in mind – from free Wi-Fi in all guestrooms and common areas to around-the-clock food and beverage offerings, the delicious complimentary hot breakfast for guests to spaces that flex to meet guests’ needs,” said General Manager Mark DiPiazza.
“This project falls right in our sweet spot,” said Mark Laport, president and chief executive officer of Concord Hospitality. “Hyatt House Jersey City will open in the midst of a solid and growing financial center and will be served by a major transportation hub that puts nearly five million people annually at our doorstep.”
The hotel opened on November 28.
