A cookie chain that has blown up in the biggest way since launching just seven short years ago will be coming to Downtown Jersey City as Crumbl Cookies has picked out their latest storefront.
For those uninitiated with the brand’s pink boxes of delectable cookies, the Utah-based cookie company was co-founded by cousins Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley back in 2017. The pair opened their first store in 2017 and only served their famous milk chocolate chip cookies for takeout and delivery.
Crumbl Cookies quickly pivoted to a weekly rotating menu of cookies the following year as they perfected their recipes, which has become the brand’s calling card. The company has expanded and franchised significantly since their early days; as of July 2024, its total number of stores sits at 1,038.
Despite the boom, Crumbl doesn’t have a single location in Hudson County despite its status as the sixth most densely populated county in the United States. That is all about to change, as the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District recently confirmed in an Instagram post that the company is opening inside the office building at the corner of Grove Street and Columbus Drive.
The ground floor at the property, which sits next to the Grove Street PATH Station, is home to a Shake Shack. The storefronts inside the office building underwent renovations several years ago to modernize their look.
Crumbl has a few outposts in New York City and their closest New Jersey locations are in Wayne, Union, and Montvale. The company has not announced an opening date for their Jersey City location, but the brand can be followed on Instagram at the handle @crumblcookies.
