A new bagel shop featuring an old family recipe will be setting up shop at 832 Washington Street, and renovations are full speed ahead at the space as they hope to start serving customers before the end of 2018.
The Brooklyn Bagelry is coming to the former Boardwalk Burgers & Fries spot on Hoboken’s main street. The shop officially started selling their bagels in Aberdeen last month and the business itself claims to have started over 40 years ago on the streets of Kings Highway in Brooklyn.
“Driven by the American Dream and the desire to serve communities, our founder Vasilios worked tirelessly to find the right combination of texture and taste,” reads the business website. “As a result, our crunchy-on-the-outside, light-fluffy-on-the-inside bagels have been a staple throughout the New York Metropolitan area.”
In addition to a plethora of bagel varieties that are freshly baked every hour, The Brooklyn Bagelry prides itself on their bialy. The Polish-style bread is baked instead of boiled like a bagel and removing the usual malt from the process creates a different texture. Other menu items include specialty sandwiches, salads, and a few desserts like an apple turnover or strawberry cheese Danish.
The business is being built out by IBO Construction Group, who recently posted some teaser shots on their Instagram previewing the space. The Brooklyn Bagelry even has their own app where customers can order from them on their phone. Early birds have been loving their Aberdeen morning hours that start at 5 a.m., and their Hoboken spot looks to be open early as well.
A representative for The Brooklyn Bagelry told Jersey Digs they hope to have their Washington Street outpost up and running by the end of the year. Those interested can follow them on Instagram at the handle @bkbagelry for updates on an official opening date.
