The owner of six properties in Jersey City is looking to use these lots to construct a high-rise development.
A Terrace Avenue-based business known as Cottage 29 Owner, LLC was designated as the official redeveloper of 11, 17, 19, 21, 23, and 25-29 Cottage Street in Journal Square through a resolution that was approved on June 15 by the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency’s Board of Commissioners.
Cottage 29 Owner, LLC is looking to “develop, finance and construct” a 28-tower tower with 669 residential units, 45,000 square feet of office space, and an unspecified amount of retail space, according to the resolution.
This project between John F. Kennedy Boulevard and Summit Avenue would reportedly bring “enhanced pedestrian plaza improvements” along the future Homestead Place Extension, which has previously been referred to as the Homestead Walkway.
Over the years, these properties have included houses and two three-story buildings, one of which contained Fresenius Kidney Care North New Jersey and The Veritas Healthcare Solutions, LLC.
The premises sit in the midst of a rapidly changing Cottage Street.
In addition to the 20-story building at 26 Cottage Street that is currently under construction, 27-story developments are envisioned for the Congregation Sons of Israel parcel next to Cottage 29 Owner, LLC’s land along with a site consisting of 32, 34, 36, and 38 Cottage Street. Meanwhile, a 30-story residential, office, retail, and hotel project has been approved for the Pep Boys site just a few yards to the west.
