One of the biggest fast-food brands in the world has expanded their Jersey City footprint as Wendy’s has opened their first outpost in the city’s Downtown area.
Earlier this week, Wendy’s opened their newest restaurant at 245 12th Street. The 31,500-square-foot property, which spans about three-quarters of an acre, is situated off the eastbound portion of the I-78 overlay adjacent to the exit ramp for Newport and Hamilton Park.
Jersey Digs reported on the approvals back in 2022, which kept an Exxon gas station at the site intact but otherwise completely overhauled the property. The new 1,600-square-foot Wendy’s at the property features both a drive-thru and dine-in facility and is open 24 hours.
More is coming to the property just steps away from Wendy’s. A new 1,600-square-foot building is slated to be home to a convenience store along the southern portion of the property. The revamp of the land also created a new pedestrian walkway and landscaped area at the corner of 12th Street and Jersey Avenue as part of the project.
The new Wendy’s is the company’s fourth Jersey City restaurant following locations along Garfield Avenue, Stadium Plaza, and their most recent inside the Journal Square PATH station.
