According to a post on Reddit, it seems there are doubts that the Whole Foods announced for downtown Jersey City will actually move forward.
Announced over a year ago, Whole Foods was slated to open at the Metropolis Tower co-op site in downtown Jersey City. Now, Reddit users are citing a few different theories for why the Whole Foods portion of the project may be scrapped- from the development site being contaminated, to both Whole Foods and the co-op board not being on board with the project.
Jersey Digs has heard rumors that the Whole Foods would no longer be happening for months, but we have been unable to confirm anything directly.
Jersey City’s Whole Foods was slated to open in 2020. If the rumors turn out to be true, there will still be another Whole Foods coming to the area soon. A ‘365 by Whole Foods’ will open in Weehawken, just steps from the Lincoln Harbor Light Rail station.
