Home design dreams will come true a little closer to home for area residents, as Brooklyn-based home furnishings retailer West Elm celebrated the grand opening of its Hoboken store this week.
Besides the 30 jobs created, the 10,745-sq. ft. store will connect with the community another way – by highlighting 11 New Jersey-based designers and producers and the locally sourced goods they create.
West Elm will also offer Williams-Sonoma’s Design Crew consultation program, providing access to expert design, installation, and registry services.
“We hope to contribute to the neighborhood’s continued growth and create opportunities for residents and visitors to connect and share their common interests, whether it’s at our in-store workshops and community-driven events or by discovering a New Jersey-based artist from the LOCAL Hoboken assortment,” said West Elm President Alex Bellos.
Be sure to take note of the hand-painted map of Hoboken and New York that hangs behind the cash register, as well as the sculptural installation along the register’s front panel, its reclaimed spindles a nod to Hoboken’s historic brownstones.
West Elm is located at 1420 Willow Avenue.
