An upscale eatery that’s been under construction for almost three years has finally made its debut just a few miles away from several Jersey Shore destinations.
It’s been a long process to get up and running at 109 North County Line Road in Jackson, but a new dining experience dubbed The Edge finally soft opened on October 2. The restaurant is the first eatery opened by locals Phil and Louise Cornick, but they’ve brought in talents with vast experience to work on the project.
The Edge’s General Manager Fonda Tsironis previously owned Park Blue Wine Bar and Lounge in New York City and the restaurant’s kitchen is led by Executive Chef Daniel Schreiber. His resume includes a stop at Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill before working as a line cook at David Burke’s Fromagerie, after which he became a line chef at Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Nougatine in New York City. The restaurant sports a New American menu with Latin and Asian influences, with entrees like a seared halibut with white miso beurre blanc or a grilled pork chop with guajillo demi.
Drinks at The Edge also look to be elevated, as the restaurant has a craft cocktails program developed by mixologist Christopher James. His previous experience includes stops at Felina Restaurant and Bar in Ridgewood, Morristown’s Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen, and Low Fidelity in Jersey City. Besides a dozen cocktails, The Edge features an extensive American and European wine list, 12 beers on tap and 25 bottles, and a mix of single malts, blended and Japanese whiskeys, ryes, bourbons, rums, gin, tequila, mezcal, cognacs, Armagnacs, and other brandies.
The 200-seat restaurant, which was built from scratch, features a ton of reclaimed wood and a main dining room for 125 patrons that’s highlighted by a cascading water wall, fireplace, and 16-seat stone communal table. A large custom-made bar, plush lounge chair seating, and high-top tables complete the space, which will eventually include an outdoor patio that’s still under construction.
During their soft opening, The Edge is seating diners by reservations only that can be booked through their website. They are currently closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but open at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, closing at 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 10 p.m. during their other business days.
A grand opening should be announced soon, and those interested in keeping tabs on the restaurant can follow them at the Instagram handle @theedgeinjackson.
