A popular stretch of Westfield will get a little sweeter in the coming weeks as Baked Bear is preparing to launch their latest location near the town’s train station.

The Baked Bear has announced their next outpost at 18 Elm Street inside a space previously occupied by a gourmet Cinnabon store. The storefront is situated in the heart of Westfield’s downtown and while an exact launch date hasn’t been announced, the plan is to open possibly by the end of February.

The brand was founded in 2012 by childhood friends Rob Robbins and Shane Stanger after they left their careers to open a restaurant concept together in San Diego. Inspired by Rob’s favorite childhood dessert of ice cream sandwiches, the pair opened the first The Baked Bear in May 2013.

The Baked Bear lets customers mix and match cookies or brownies for their top and bottom of their sandwiches while also adding their favorite ice cream as filling. Some of the cookie highlights include a Nutella chocolate chunk with sea salt and a few gluten free options.

Ice cream choices are all over the map and include everything from a blackberry crumble to a toasted s’mores or a butter brittle cake.

The Baked Bear’s other Garden State locations are in Asbury Park and Long Branch, so Westfield will be their first proper North Jersey outpost (yes, Central Jersey does exist). The brand is slated to further expand to New Brunswick later this year.

For an official announcement about the Westfield opening, the business can be followed on Instagram at the handle @thebakedbear.
