It’s out with the toys and in with the salads at one storefront in Downtown Jersey City.
Sweetberry Bowls has opened its first location in Hudson County at 179 Newark Avenue. The space, which is located along the newly expanded pedestrian mall, was previously occupied by the Fairy Tale Place and Top Fashion of Jersey City stores. Now, items sold inside include acai, pitaya, coconut, and green bowls along with smoothies and salads made to order.
Although the business already opened to customers last Thursday, a grand opening celebration will be held later this week. The Historic Downtown Special Improvement District posted that the ribbon will be cut with officials such as Mayor Steven Fulop on Thursday, June 7, at noon.
Currently, the chain largely operates in North and Central Jersey, with locations in Glen Rock, Montclair, Pompton Lakes, Princeton, and Woodbridge. However, in the months since it was established last year, the company has opened outposts in Florida and Illinois. In addition, according to Jersey City Upfront, a Sweetberry Bowls cafe is coming to Newport Tower near the waterfront.
