A Mexican eatery that holds a Guinness World Record is officially open for business in Jersey City as Meximodo has launched one of the larger restaurants in the city’s Downtown.
On October 16, Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop and other dignitaries joined ownership to cut the ribbon at the restaurant, which has opened on the ground floor of Haus 25 at 25 Columbus Drive. Meximodo’s flagship location in Metuchen opened back in 2023, and the brand has expanded significantly since.

The restaurant is part of the Le Malt Hospitality Group, whose concepts include Le Malt Lounge in Colonia and Le Malt Royale in Red Bank. Meximodo describes its cuisine as a “fusion of classic and innovative Mexican dishes, prepared with locally sourced ingredients and presented with artistic flair.”

Meximodo’s 8,000-square-foot Jersey City restaurant boasts soaring ceilings and an area called the Rose Room for private events overlooking the main dining room. An outdoor seating area with a large retractable awning overlooks Columbus Drive at the restaurant.
Some of the eatery’s most popular items are pork belly tacos, shrimp tacos, churros, corn flan, steak & cheese tacos, corn & roasted tomato guacamole, and birria tacos. Meximodo’s beverage program includes innovative cocktails like a Cantarito, which blends Patron Blanco, orange and grapefruit juice, Chamoy, and Tajin.

The restaurant has also earned recognition from the Guinness Book of World Records for its over 1,000-variety tequila, mezcal, and agave library.
Meximodo’s Jersey City hours span from 4 p.m. until 11 p.m. from Sunday through Wednesday, staying open an extra hour until midnight Thursday through Saturday. A lunch and brunch service will also be coming to the Jersey City location and is slated to be rolled out in the coming weeks.
The restaurant’s brand is expanding rather rapidly in the Garden State, as new Meximodo locations are in the works for Parsippany and Marlboro.
