The Jersey Journal reported yesterday that the City of Jersey City is in preliminary discussions to bring an art museum to Journal Square. The city wants to buy 25 Journal Square from Hudson County Community College and repurpose it into a cultural destination. It would be an expanded version of the Jersey City Museum on Montgomery Street that shut down in 2010. The new location will provide much greater visibility and access to public transportation.

The city hopes that with the extensive redevelopment happening in the area that a museum will further help the former city center once again become a Jersey City destination.
