A local business that started as a mobile vendor several years ago has officially begun serving customers out of a new storefront not far from the neighborhood where their journey first began.
Back in June, Hybrid Coffee + Kitchen announced that they were closing their brick-and-mortar location at 110 Cambridge Avenue. The coffee shop had been operating out of the spot since 2019 following their successful coffee and espresso cart in the city’s Exchange Place neighborhood.
Owner Evan Santiago repurposed a 1970s horse trailer for the mobile version and added some unique flair to the Cambridge Avenue space as well, complementing the beverages with a menu that included dishes like brioche French toast, a loaded avocado toast on toasted brioche, and eggs in a blanket served in a brioche bun.
Hybrid Coffee + Kitchen’s latest endeavor takes them to the ground floor of 398 Manila Avenue inside the Villa Borinquen complex. The new venue includes some outdoor space and portions of the former location’s décor including a Pac-man machine have made the trip to the latest spot.
Besides breakfast-heavy options and various pastries, Hybrid Coffee + Kitchen also serves dishes for those seeking lunch-style fare. Highlights include a Latin-style chicken soup or a stew sandwich, which consists of seasoned shredded beef poured into a hard bread bowl.
Hybrid Coffee + Kitchen officially opened their new spot on August 16 and while they will be closed on Sundays, they will be serving the community Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. They can be followed on Instagram at the handle @drinkhybrid for further updates.
