Another one of Washington Street’s long vacant retail spots is getting a new tenant, and a new Mediterranean-style eatery will be adding to the streetscape along Hoboken’s main artery.
Last summer, one of the two storefronts at 410 Washington Street was filled by Jun’s Macaron Gelato and the 850-square foot space to the left of the building’s entrance is set for Garlic & Tahini House of Shawarma. The restaurant will be designed by Toma Architects and will feature an open cooking area where guests can watch the chefs in action.
Garlic & Tahini House of Shawarma will offer eat-in dining, although seating will be limited due to the space’s size. Little is known about the actual menu at the restaurant, and they don’t appear to have a social media presence yet. Take-out options will be available, and delivery seems likely but hasn’t been confirmed.
A legal entity for the company, called GTIE Inc., was officially registered in January, but construction hasn’t started at the storefront yet. The city officially signed off on the plans last month.
