The bustling Kennedy Boulevard corridor just got a new breakfast and lunch spot in a building undergoing a retail revamp, as a cozy storefront across from VIP Diner is officially open for business.
Journal Square’s latest dining option is nestled in 2800 Kennedy Boulevard, a property that was purchased by NYC-based Margulies Properties for $1.5 million back in 2016. Dubbed simply City Café & Bakery, the business held its soft opening over the weekend and sports a menu with more than meets the eye.
The options at City Café & Bakery start with many varieties of caffeine and brewed using local Kobrick Coffee beans. Various muffins, cookies, donuts, baked goods, and croissants are available for customers on the go, but the café does offer some seating next to large windows that will slide open when warmer weather arrives for those wishing to take a load off.
Some heartier options are featured for those lingering at the space, and they include bagels with egg and cheese, paninis, and soups. A few sandwich options, including tuna or chicken topped with veggies, round out the lunch choices and dessert cakes like strawberry shortcake, chocolate caramel, and white chocolate raspberry should please those with a sweet tooth.
City Café & Bakery has a punch card for customers where they can earn free items and is open seven days a week. The business is still getting to know the neighborhood and hasn’t firmly established their hours, but they can be followed at the Instagram handle @city_cafe__bakery.
