Hudson county’s southernmost city is joining the development party, and a recent groundbreaking is the latest sign that transit-oriented growth is finally coming to fruition in Bayonne.

The initial portion of the sprawling Bayonne plan will build 797 residences and much more along the banks of Newark Bay.

The Burnett Electric property in Bayonne is expected to be replaced with a new six-story apartment building that will include a fitness center and lounge on the rooftop.
