An internationally known chicken wing company will be bringing their latest concept to Jersey City as Buffalo Wild Wings aims to open later this year inside a Journal Square storefront.
Buffalo Wild Wings, who operate over 1,300 locations across the globe, have already put up temporary signage outside 2825 Kennedy Boulevard trumpeting their arrival. The property was formerly home to a Taco Bell outpost, which will be moving to the Journal Square Transportation Center per our reporting earlier this week.
Buffalo Wild Wings has not secured a liquor license for the property, and one does not appear to be coming. The outpost under construction on Kennedy Boulevard will fall under the company’s fairly new “Go” brand, which focuses on a delivery and pick-up model instead of a full-fledged sports bar concept for which they are perhaps best known.
Per CNBC, Buffalo Wild Wings opened their 100th location of the “Go” offshoot earlier this year. Several of them have popped up in New York City in recent years and the concept has proven effective in a post-pandemic world.
The Buffalo Wild Wings Go coming to Journal Square will be smaller than a traditional sports bar but will still offer the company’s famous chicken wings, burgers, sandwiches, and wraps. An official opening date has not yet been announced, but a Google listing of the business says they are aiming for a September launch.
When opened, the Jersey City Buffalo Wild Wings will perhaps surprisingly be just the third outpost of the brand in the entirety of Hudson County. Harmon Meadow Plaza has a full-fledge version of the restaurant, while Kearny has a “Go” version.
The “Go” version of Buffalo Wild Wings has started to expand significantly in New Jersey, with recent locations launching in Saddle Brook, Wanaque, and Barnegat earlier this year. Another outpost is slated to launch in Fair Lawn during the coming weeks.
